NHL Centennial Greatest Team Celebration

The 1984-85 Edmonton Oilers were voted the Greatest NHL Team of All Time! The team—including Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier—will host this intimate evening of storytelling and multi-media vignettes.

World Indigenous Nations Games

This international multi-sports event will include the traditional games from around the world! Indigenous peoples from across Canada will showcase Indian Horse Relay, Lacrosse, and Denesuline Hand Games, while other participating countries will share their traditional games throughout the week.

OTTAWA SENATORS

OCTOBER 12

The Ottawa Senators push for a playoff return with the addition of Gatineau-native Derick Brassard. General Manager Pierre Dorion thinks the team will be compelling and competitive this year, led by defenceman Dion Phaneuf and Erik Karlsson, “one of the most dynamic players in all of hockey.” Home turf often brings out the best in the team: “Canadian Tire Centre’s fans are passionate. There is certainly something special about watching our team succeed in front of 20,000 of their biggest supporters.” The Sens’ home opener is Oct. 12 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, with preseason games Oct. 1 and 7.

Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival

This epic cross country ski saga, beginning at the Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area, attracts more than 2,000 skiers from all over the world and has grown to become the largest classic-style cross-country ski event in Canada. There are plenty of activities so that people of all ages and athletic abilities can join in on the fun!
