Etobicoke

Toronto, Ontario

Description provided by Editors

Bounded by Lake Ontario to the south and Humber River to the east, the suburb’s name was derived from a First Nations word for “place where the wild alders grow.” The area is best known for Sherway Gardens, one of the city’s largest shopping malls, and the Humber Arboretum. The town is steadily attracting affluent families beguiled by its many parks and quasi-country feel. Etobicoke starts at Lake Ontario and stretches north to Rexdale Boulevard.
