Ottawa’s oldest park was originally developed in the early 1800s. Colonel John By’s residence once stood on this peaceful stretch of land, but the house was destroyed by fire. The Ottawa River, Gatineau, the Parliament Buildings, and the Rideau Canal can all be seen from this site. Several statues (including one of the colonel) stand guard over the parkland.
