Gatineau Park

Ottawa, Ontario

Description provided by Editors

More than 35,000 hectares of unspoiled land in the Gatineau Hills (part of one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world) are maintained by the National Capital Commission (NCC). Hundreds of kilometres of footpaths wind their way through the park, making it great for cross-country skiing in winter, and hiking in summer (trail maps available from the park’s visitor centre in Old Chelsea, Quebec). Gatineau Park is also the site of the Mackenzie King Estate, country home of Canada’s eccentric former prime minister, and his famous collection of ruins.
