Permanent exhibits deal with the experience of war through the ages, including battles between First Peoples, the French, and the British, the South African War, the First and Second World Wars, the Cold War, peacekeeping missions, and recent conflicts. The designers of this stunning, ecologically friendly building have won the Governor General’s Medal in Architecture.

Oct. 23 to March 20, 2016: World War Women. This exhibition looks at women’s contributions during World War I and World War II, and also examines the new challenges they faced in a changing society.

Until Feb. 28, 2017: Ordinary People in Extraordinary Times reveals the human experience in wartime, presenting 12 different sculptures from the First World War.

$15; seniors: $13; students: $10; children (three to 12): $8; children under three: free; families: $36. Free admission Thursday evenings and Remembrance Day (Nov. 11).
