Toronto Airports: Getting To and From Pearson Airport and the Island Airport

Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)

PUBLIC TRANSIT
Cost: $3
Time: 75 minutes to downtown Toronto
It’s only $3 to take the Toronto’s public transit system, the TTC, from this suburban airport—but it may mean a long ride, with lots of transfers. The 192 Airport Rocket bus to Kipling station is the best bet for getting to the subway, while the 58A Malton bus will take you along Lawrence Avenue, through the northern part of Toronto, to Lawrence West subway station. Catch these, as well as other buses from Brampton Transit, Mississauga Transit and GO Transit (buses to points in and beyond the Greater Toronto Area), on the ground-floor level of Terminals 1 and 3. The airport website offers this easy-to-use on-line tool that can help map the most efficient public transit journey to and from Pearson.

TAXI
Cost: $60 to downtown Toronto

Time: 30 minutes
Cab fares to and from Pearson Airport are set by the zone you’re travelling to or from in the city, but figure about $50–$60 for downtown locations, and $75 to points east of downtown. Vehicles are plentiful and are available on the ground floor of Terminals 1 and 3.

UNION PEARSON EXPRESS
Cost: $24 to downtown Toronto

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (Island Airport, YTZ)

SHUTTLE BUS
Cost: Free
Time: 15 minutes to Union Station
A free shuttle bus runs between the downtown Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (a.k.a the Island Airport) and the Fairmont Royal York, which is across from Union Station, Toronto’s main transit hub. From Union Station, you can grab the subway, local buses, Via Rail trains and GO trains.

PUBLIC TRANSIT
Cost: $3
Time: 25 minutes to downtown Toronto
The city’s public transit system, the TTC, doesn’t serve Billy Bishop Airport directly, so it takes a short walk to access it—just cross the parking lot, and follow the road on the left, leading to the intersection of Lakeshore Boulevard and Bathurst Street, where you find stops for the 511 Bathurst streetcar (runs north to Bathurst subway station on the east–west, Bloor–Danforth subway line) and the 509 Harbourfront streetcar (runs east to Union Station or west to the Exhibition grounds).

TAXI
Cost: $20 to downtown Toronto
Time: 10 minutes
Cabs are plentiful, and the cost is a steal compared to cabbing it in from Pearson Airport, provided the destination is somewhere in the city core. The cab stand is directly in front of the airport exit. If you want to price a cab, we suggest using Taxime.ca.

For directions, parking information and more public transit options to and from the Billy Bishop Island Airport visit the airport’s website, or call 416-203-6942.
