Start the weekend off with a Winterlicious meal as the citywide culinary extravaganza celebrates 10 years of tickling Torontonians’ taste buds. Approximately 175 restaurants are taking part; there are probably a few that aren’t entirely booked up this weekend.

Relive two of the most celebrated records of all time, as Classic Albums Live performs the Beatles’ seminal 1965/66 hits Rubber Soul and Revolver at Massey Hall.

See a real-life mother and son reenact their story of the culture clash between Indian heritage and Canadian lifestyle in Tarragon Theatre’s A Brimful of Asha. Follow Ravi on his trip to the motherland, where his parents decide it’s the perfect time to talk him into an arranged marriage. (more…)

Hot Dining: Get a Discounted Dinner During Winterlicious

JANUARY 27 TO FEBRUARY 9 This year marks the 10th anniversary of Winterlicious, the annual event that lures gourmands, coupon-clippers and the epicurious out of hibernation. For two weeks, approximately 175 of Toronto’s finest dining destinations serve up their signature cuisine as part of discounted three-course prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner. Local landmark restaurants like Canoe are taking part, as are newcomers like Estiatorio Volos, Scarpetta and Aria. No coupons are required, but reservations are highly recommended. Friday: Partake in a tour and tasting inside Casa Loma

Tour Toronto’s castle on the hill to get a true taste of times past. This evening, Casa Loma offers a Winterlicious dining event that allows guests to sample seasonal fare in its many rooms. Enjoy infused oils and artisanal breads in the great hall; a rotisserie station spins in the library and rustic chocolate bread pudding awaits in the conservatory. End the evening in the Cellar with cheeses and local wines.

Hop on over to the Bata Shoe Museum as it welcomes Chinese New Year with an exhibit dedicated to the Year of the Rabbit. Various hare-inspired artifacts are on display, including ancient bunny slippers with bunny ears. (more…)
