Young and Hot: Miette Hot Springs

Miette Hot Springs’ (p 148) 54°C/129°F waters are the hottest in the Canadian Rockies; they are cooled to 40°C/104°F for bathing comfort. Hike the 0.7 km/0.4 mi interpretive trail past historic 1938 aquacourt remnants to the spring source. Here, steaming mineral water emerges from porous gray-brown tufa calcifications; the youngest rocks in the Rockies. By Lisa Stephens
