Hot Shopping: Massimo Dutti Adds Preppy Chic at the Eaton Centre

(photo: JJ Thompson)

Zara’s upscale sibling, Massimo Dutti, has arrived in Canada to begin transforming the country one prepster at a time. Popular around the world  for its tailored  essentials—from blazers and trousers to polos and cashmere sweaters—the brand is often compared to quintessential American label Ralph Lauren. The Spanish-based line of apparel, footwear and accessories for men and women is designed with the yuppie urbanite in mind, while also catering to the manor-born with pieces like silk handkerchiefs and bow ties.  —Linda Luong

Hot Shopping: The Eaton Centre is 35 Years Yonge

The Toronto Eaton Centre is celebrating its 35th anniversary by becoming more stylish than ever. The downtown shopping hub has been undergoing renovations for the past few years: last winter it inaugurated a fabulously chic Urban Eatery food court; this season, shoppers are treated to new stores from the likes of Ann Taylor, J. Crew and the first Canadian location of Massimo Dutti, plus a massive expansion of gentlemen’s clothier Harry Rosen. Once you’re finished browsing the retail wares, take a moment to look skyward—the mall’s signature glass roof now features an art installation that responds to the movement of the sun and local weather conditions.
