The Calgary Folk Music Festival takes over Prince’s Island Park Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28. The diverse musical event features a wide range of established and upcoming folk, blues, rock and world music acts from local to international. Artists perform throughout each day on the mainstage as well as several side stages. A variety of food kiosks, a sizeable beer garden and a laid-back community feel help make this festival one of the city’s signature summer events.
Located on the Bow River just north of Eau Claire Market, Prince’s Island Park is a beautiful urban green space and a popular location for musical and cultural events as well as picnics. Despite being damaged by June’s unprecedented flooding, the Folk Festival’s hundreds of loyal volunteers have fully cleaned the festival site. Most festival side stages will be set up in their usual spots.
2013 headliners include Alabama Shakes, M.Ward, Kurt Vile, Mexican Insitute of Sound, Steve Earle, Thievery Corporation (more…)
