Toronto’s New Buonanotte Mixes Rustic Cuisine and a Glam Setting

The vintage-elegant dining room at Buonanotte

The vintage-elegant dining room at Buonanotte

Toronto’s social scene boasts a bit of Italy-by-way-of-Montreal inspiration with the arrival of Buonanotte. The trendy restaurant has catered to the coolest Quebeckers—and visiting celebrities—since 1991; now in T.O., a spacious silver- and gold-accented dining room froths with young professionals unwinding after work. A très chic vibe pervades, but it’s tempered by congenial staff who exude a real appreciation for food. Chef Davide Iannaci and his team turn out unfussy favourites, including a variety of fresh pastas, pizzas and meatier mains that pair well with a large selection of private-import Italian wines. Live DJ sets (Wednesdays through Saturdays) and bottle service (starting at 11:30 p.m.) encourage lingering long into the night.  —Craig Moy
