The decor may hint at Canadian cabin chic, but the menu draws inspiration from varied sources. At Woods, diners find themselves in a comfortable yet contemporary space, surrounded by soaring wood beams and exposed brick, and seated on forest-print banquettes or at the harvest table beneath a neon green twig chandelier. The boundaries widen when the artfully plated food arrives from chef-owner Bruce Woods’s kitchen: though the likes of bison, venison and Quebec foie gras make appearances, continental tastes and techniques are equally on display in such dishes as tuna tartar, chicken cordon bleu, and spaghetti and meatballs.  —Craig Moy
