Vita Sociale Makes a Splash in Midtown

The Yonge and Eglinton area isn’t exactly lacking in casual Italian restaurants; recently inaugurated Vita Sociale, however, has a built-in clientele. For many years known as glitzy Centro, owner Armando Mano’s revamped dining room, while still stylish, is now significantly more inclusive—you’ll find mature guests, trendy younger denizens and families in equal measure. The menu is similarly accessible, with a surfeit of pastas and Roman-style thin-crust pizzas, plus secondi like porchetta and a roasted half chicken, distinguished by chef Symon Abad’s finely honed technique. Befitting the restaurant’s new off-the-cuff vibe, a selection of bar snacks and, of course, signature cocktails, is also available for peckish patrons.  —Craig Moy
