Spanish Restaurant Carmen Adds to Toronto’s Latin Heatwave

Carmen Spanish Restaurant Toronto

Sure, it’s counterintuitive, but summer weather and spicy food pair really well together. Torontonians have an excellent option for the latter in Carmen. One of a handful of new Spanish-influenced eateries that have popped up in the city’s trendier pockets, the Queen West space has a built-in pedigree—it comes from the owners of Kensington Market staple Torito. Like its sibling space, Carmen boasts an energetic bar scene and a dining room with a vibrant, communal atmosphere. All the better for sharing the menu’s traditional and modern tapas dishes, larger mains and two-person paellas. A number of Spanish wines and house cocktails also help beat the heat.  –Craig Moy
