It may be a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it blip on a nondescript stretch of Parliament Street, but you can’t beat Star Nails (442 Parliament St., 416-923-8880) for a quick, sure thing. Their Deluxe Full Day Retreat ($470 for eight and a half hours!) revives from head to toe with Swedish massage, facial, mani-pedi, water therapies, wash and style, and lunch. The scaled-back elegance of Camden Spa (8 Camden St., ste. 201, 416-203-8858) is proof that quality service needn’t come at five-star prices. Effusive service and a zen-like calm make up for any lack of showy amenities. Allow yourself to be expertly kneaded into a relaxed state during an hour-long massage ($82), with extras as you see fit (scalp massage, anyone?). Open Monday to Saturday.

Yield to the power of the pins as you settle into a stress-busting and meridian-aligning acupuncture treatment ($45, 30 minutes) at cozy Yorkville oasis Spa Ineed. The Royal & Ancient Stress Relief Treatment ($220, two and a half hours) includes a herbal steam facial, manicure and pedicure, half-hour hand and forearm massage, half-hour foot massage and complimentary shoeshine. At Novo Spa, an aptly titled Couple’s Paradise package ($498, three hours) puts you and your honey side by side for a dizzying series of services, including an Asian tea ritual, organic babassu cream body wrap and customized facials. Then bask in each other’s glow as you enjoy a private couples’ steam jet shower complete with colour therapy. Open daily.

Two therapists set the mood during the Romantic Ritual for couples ($280 to $350, two hours) at Pantages Spa. Enjoy side-by-side relaxation massages, citrus and vanilla sugar pedicures for him and her, and complimentary water therapies. Open daily.

Salon Jie owner Jie Matar is a self-made celebrity and no stranger to high-profile clients and their demands. This sleek, upscale Yorkville salon has 30 stylists whose cuts start at $65 for women and $35 for men. Meet with the legend himself and you’ll pay a lot more ($350 is common)-but, oh, the cachet! Minus the attitude and ostentation, the team at Shagg (102 Scollard St., 416-934-1817) takes the time to find the right look for you. Owners Christopher Martin and Justin German are spokespeople for Pantene and Clairol, so how can you go wrong? Cuts start at $70. Open Tuesday to Saturday.

Glo Salon (94 Avenue Rd., 416-928-1503) boasts top-of-their-game stylists and technicians who create lustrous looks for a diverse clientele. Even if you’re a star only in your own head, the relaxed chic atmosphere and ultra-attentive service will leave you feeling fabulous. Women’s cuts start at $60 to $85, men’s at $45. Make heads turn with a cut from Coupe Bizarre (704 & 710 Queen St. W., 416-504-0783), a long-standing denizen of the happening Queen Street West scene. Constant innovation and an eye on global street fashion define their famously asymmetrical, fringed or just plain rockin’ cuts and colours. Cuts start at $53. Open daily.

Lid Lounge (115B Church St., 416-367-5437) is slightly off the beaten path, but soothes the soul with its casual vibe. Owners Sunil and Dean are Coupe Bizarre ex-pats who have honed their skills on the urban fringe. With cuts starting from $56, you’re bound to love your new lid. Open daily.
