Canada Comes First at North Standard Trading Post

North Standard Trading Post

North Standard Trading Post

If it were possible to fit this vast country into a store, that store would look like North Standard Trading Post. Brainchild of partners Pamela Hopson and Francesco Fiore, the rustic, Canadiana-themed space is stocked with goods from across the country, and the rare imported items are “Canadian in spirit.” The shop nods to a historical period in which trading posts were one-stop destinations for family and home products, but updates the model to suit modern customers—particularly those who attire themselves in clothing from the likes of Free People, Standard Trade, Doublenaut and Mink Pink, and accessorize with jewellery and sport footwear. Home sweet home is served with blankets from Pendleton plus the iconic Hudson’s Bay Company striped throw, while Smells Like Canada candles come in scents like Saskatoon Wheat, Fraser Valley Wood and even Toronto Smoke. Tuesday to Sunday. —Linda Luong
