The Kobo Glo HD Upgrades Your E-Reading Experience

Kobo Glo HD Indigo Toronto

The Kobo Glo HD e-reader is available at Indigo and other fine retailers

Reading while you travel is a common occurrence that’s all the more prevalent these days, what with the availability and ease of tablets and smartphones, as well as e-books and digital magazines, which often come loaded with additional content and features. Some traditionalists, however, have resisted the transition; Tokyo-based e-commerce company Rakuten is seeking to change their minds with the debut of the Kobo Glo HD. Launched earlier this spring, the latest offering from the company that was originally founded in Toronto in 2009, replicates a print-on-paper experience with 300 pixels-per-inch resolution in a compact (157 x 115 x 9.2 mm) and lightweight (180 g) device. The Kobo Glo HD boasts more impressive specs, including a battery life of up to two months and storage capacity of up to 3,000 books. Kobo Glo HD, which retails for $129.99 and is available at Indigo, joins the rest of the Kobo lineup, which includes the Kobo Aura H2O (a waterproof version), Kobo Glo with ComfortLight technology, and the original Kobo Touch.   —Linda Luong
