Hot Art: The Brick Works’ Sustaining View

The Evergreen Brick Works, an industrial district that once produced bricks for some of Toronto’s most prominent structures, now stands as a model of urban sustainability and ecologically friendly design. Long a preferred location for graffiti taggers, the Brick Works’ buildings retain these colourful markings and murals from recent history, and showcase a variety of other related art works, too. A Green Design exhibit highlights the site’s innovative environmental features, while forest-themed paintings are on display across the venue. And within the historic kilns, visitors can examine 100 archival photographs that examine other heritage places to remember before they disappear.
