Hot Art: Green Shoots at Harbourfront

One of Becky Comber's Greenbelt photos

OPENS JUNE 18 The contrast between exploiting and preserving our natural resources is evident in southern Ontario, where an enormous metropolitan area is hemmed by a 1.8 million-acre greenbelt of forests, wetlands and farmers’ fields. This summer, Harbourfront Centre examines the many aspects of the region—from its seasonal transformation to the way humans work and play within it—at a free, outdoor exhibition titled Beyond Imaginings: Eight Artists Encounter Ontario’s Greenbelt. Featuring more than 70 images by Becky Comber, Rob MacInnis and others, the display brings to life the rich diversity of one of the world’s largest and best-protected greenbelts, right in our own backyard.
