Hot Art: A Good Night’s Sleeplessness

A mock-up of the Flightpath Toronto installation

OCTOBER 1 For a one imaginative evening, the streets of Toronto transform into a massive art gallery that’s open late—really late. The annual Scotiabank Nuit Blanche kicks off at 6:59 p.m. and runs until sunrise the next morning, and features more than 130 curated and independent contemporary art projects set up throughout downtown. This year’s pièce de résistance is Flightpath Toronto—artists Natalie Jeremijenko and Usman Haque plan to remodel Nathan Phillips Square as an urban flight school, encouraging hundreds of participants to don wings and experience the wonder of “flying.” Free admission.
