Favourite Patios

An homage to The Great One, Wayne Gretzky’s boasts Oasis, a rooftop patio that’s a haven for hockey fanatics and sports junkies. The newly minted addition to the Jack Astor’s Bar & Grill chain boasts a bird’s-eye view of the flashing lights of Yonge-Dundas Square, a buzzing intersection that’s lit up like noon hour even after dark. Head west for street-level hipster-watching at The Beaconsfield or, if a higher altitude is what you’re after, cross the street and head upstairs to Sky Yard at The Drake Hotel where chic loungers, an outdoor bar and even heat lamps keep the party going on cool evenings. A taste of Miami Beach sizzle awaits at Ultra Supper Club—white banquets and twinkling lights set a sexy vibe. Lounging on the patio at Fuzion is like hanging out in a friend’s comfy living room—if your friend was a decorator and happened to live outside. The sleek setting makes for an intimate swilling spot. An expansive patio at glamorous One—an instant celeb draw when it opened right before last September’s film festival—gives a great view of chi-chi Yorkville’s streetlife. Nearby, The Pilot Tavern‘s rooftop patio, Flight Deck, may be a neighbourhood institution, but there’s no pomp or attitude here—just plenty on draft and room to mingle with friends.
