THE NEW TORONTO DESIGNERS MARKET BOASTS AN ECLECTIC COLLECTION OF PRODUCTS WITH LOCAL PROVENANCE

Toronto Designers Market Parkdale

Independent local artisans have a new home base at the Toronto Designers Market, a 3,000-square-foot storefront lined with art fair–evoking booths. Vendors set their own prices—and keep 100 per cent of their sales revenue—on goods like refurbished furniture, jewellery, skincare products, handbags and accessories. Founded by Joshua James, who also operates the studio collective 36 Chambers and the Parkdale Flea, the Designers Market boasts a rotating roster of approximately 40 exhibitors, including upcycled light fixtures by Adam Fullerton, leather goods studio Uppdoo, men’s grooming label Always Bearded, and bow tie artisan Lord of Ties.  —Linda Luong
