Black Goat Cashmere Softens Up Bloor Street

BLACK GOAT CASHMERE INTRODUCES TORONTO TO ITS PLUSH MONGOLIAN-MADE SWEATERS, SCARVES AND MORE

Black Goat Cashmere Toronto Yorkville

A neighbourhood that boasts the Euro-chic likes of Cartier, Mulberry and Chanel is now also home to wares from Mongolia. Black Goat Cashmere is based in Vancouver, but its luxurious sweaters, cardigans, dresses and scarves for both women and men are manufactured in the insular state sandwiched between Russia and China. Company founders Robert and Claudia Remy ensure the integrity of each item produced for their label by sourcing only 100 per cent natural cashmere fibres from goats whose coats have been hand combed—rather than sheared or clipped—to ensure the finest-quality hair from each animal. (It can take the combings of as many as four goats to make one sweater.)  —Linda Luong
