Best Cookies Toronto

There are few more satisfying treats than a fresh-baked cookie from one of Toronto’s top bakeries (photo: Michelle Gow)

It’s a quintessential childhood memory: sitting quietly, savouring a fresh-baked cookie and a tall glass of cold milk. Perhaps you think you’ve outgrown many of the activities of your early years, but it’s hard to act entirely like an adult when a cookie craving strikes. Check out these top bakeries for some of the most inventive and flavourful cookies in Toronto.

BEST COOKIES IN TORONTO: MOO MILK BAR
Cookies purists will not be disappointed at Moo Milk Bar. Every last cookie at this Beach-area specialty shop is baked fresh from scratch, in house, and always with butter. Moo’s “Usual Suspects” line highlights the classics—chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and more—but the monthly specials, including the snickerdoodle, butter pecan and salted caramel dark chocolate, are equally delectable. Uniquely, you can also wash down your tasty treat with a locally sourced, naturally flavoured bottle of milk.

BEST COOKIES IN TORONTO: BAKERBOTS
Bakerbots‘ owner Rosanne Pezzelli’s background as an artist is evident in her hand-decorated sugar cookies (not to mention her eye-catching cakes), but for most customers, the retail arm of Pezzelli’s catering company exists to fulfill a less dainty craving—for ice cream sandwiches. Choose from among the sizable cookies in such flavours as ginger molasses, “captain peanut” and “ro-cocoa,” select one of the oft-changing ice creams, then hope you don’t get a cold headache from eating your sandwich so quickly. Cookies and cream has rarely tasted so good.

BEST COOKIES IN TORONTO: BOBBETTE & BELLE
Airy and elegant, Parisian-inspired boutique Bobbette & Belle is the place to go in Leslieville for classic cookies flavours—think oatmeal chocolate chip, peanut butter and others—by award-winning cake designer Allyson Bobbitt and former Canoe pastry chef Sarah Bell. A heavenly confectionery experience with every bite, the cookies (and biscotti!) are great for immediate eating, but also popular as party favours and gifts. Stop in for a treat and you’ll be hard-pressed not to walk out with an armful of all the other products on offer. The shop is also well known for its custom cakes, plus its delicate yet delicious French macarons.
