THESE TORONTO INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS WILL HELP YOU SEE THE CITY (AND OTHER LOCALES, ON OCCASION) FROM ITS STREETS, PARKS, GALLERIES, RESTAURANTS, AND EVEN ITS ROOFTOPS
This month’s Contact festival has us in a photographic frenzy. But the best shooters aren’t always found in art galleries. Follow these Torontonians on Instagram to get some of the greatest views of the city.
@smaku Designer and creative director Taku Kumabe shoots Toronto landscapes, many along the waterfront. He’s got a great eye for sunrises and sunsets, too.
@jayscale This prolific shooter has a distinct style (high-definition, but with a muted palette) but his photos are varied, capturing the city from sky high, at street level and everywhere in between.
@roof_topper Per his handle, this photographer’s stock-in-trade is shooting Toronto from above. Whether or not you agree with how he gains access to the city’s rooftops (private property, for the most part), the results certainly offer a rare vantage point.
@foodpr0n Longtime food blogger Jen Chan documents her Toronto dining adventures alongside her own delicious-looking home cooking.
@kitechaser Ethan Yin does right by the subdued, faux-vintage VSCO aesthetic with his varied images of Toronto’s streets and buildings. Bonus: cat photos!
@suresh Writer and food-event organizer Suresh Doss’s Instagram account is notable for its exclusive focus on video. You’ll be amazed at how much flavour he crams into each 15-second clip.
@lesclefsdorontario The Ontario chapter of the Les Clefs d’Or concierge organization tends to highlight Toronto architecture and landmarks, with a welcome emphasis on public art.
