Capital Chill is a collaboration between musicians and artists that celebrates contemporary arts in Ottawa. Some of the performers include Matt Dorgan Project, Adam Saikaley, and Graciellita, as well as artists Stefan Thompson, Etienne Gélinas, Mat Dubé, and more. Art will be available for purchase at the event, which is being held at Arts Court in Ottawa’s downtown core.

The Ottawa Storytellers will recreate the traveling Chautauqua of the 20th century this Friday evening at Billings Estate National Historic Site. The tent show features music, comedy, politics, and culture.

The Bolshoi Ballet performs Don Quixote at the NAC this weekend.

Saturday
Guests will witness astonishing feats of Russian ballet when the Bolshoi Ballet performs Don Quixote. The show, which is based on the novel “Don Quixote de la Mancha,” will dazzle audiences with a mix of dance, costumes, and set design. A special pre-ballet show takes place this Wednesday evening with former Royal Winnipeg Ballet instructor Kathryn Jones, who will discuss the history and cultural significance of this performance.

The Great Glebe Garage Sale is an annual event open to visitors which aims to raise money for The Ottawa Food Bank. This community garage sale sets up shop on front lawns, driveways, and porches and attracts thousands to the Ottawa neighbourhood of The Glebe. Visitors are encouraged to bike or walk over, and bring cash to support a local charity.

The Dandelion Festival celebrates art, music, and culture in downtown Kemptville. Saturday’s festivities include a fashion show, Highland dancers, and many more family-friendly activities. The event also features the 2012 eQuinelle Grand Prix bike race, where over 100 cyclists compete in the streets of Old Town Kemptville.

Get your hands on some DIY crafts and support a good cause by attending Tarts n’ Crafts this weekend. The event, which is hosted by Ladyfest Ottawa, raises money for Rock Camp for Girls, which teaches girls how to play instruments and provides guidance on what it takes to be in a rock band. The event features unique crafts from 35 vendors from Ottawa and Montreal including Salvage Jewelry, Water Willow Design, Two Trees Soap, and many more.

Festibière de Gatineau (Gatineau Beerfest) is a three-day celebration of specialty beers from Ontario and Quebec, and will feature such beverages as The Mexican Chihuahua from Brasseur de Montréal and the Boréale from les Brasseurs du Nord. The event is geared towards the whole family, with a combination of kids events and performers throughout this weekend.

Thousands of runners will compete in Ottawa Race Weekend on Saturday and Sunday

Whether you’re training for a two-kilometre race, challenging yourself with a marathon run, or supporting racers from one of the designated cheering stations, Ottawa Race Weekend is a great way to get excited about running. A variety of races are held, including a wheelchair marathon and the Y Kids’ Marathon for children in grades three to eight.
