Winnipeg’s Exchange District is the historical home to many thriving private galleries, making it the epicentre of the city’s substantial art scene. There are plenty of opportunities to take classes and purchase art pieces, but for those on a budget, we recommend swinging through the Exchange District for the popular First Fridays series. This event, held on the first Friday of every month, offers free access and great specials at many of the art galleries. Whenever you go, keep this guide handy to get the most out of what the Exchange district has to offer.

1. MARTHA STREET STUDIO
Martha Street Studio is a multi-faceted print screening studio that allows visitors to purchase original print art from its second level gallery. The studio also provides affordable rental space, equipment and support to guests who wish to experience the thrill of print art, and the incomparable satisfaction of seeing their own masterpiece come to life. We recommend taking one of the classes for adults or children; they vary from traditional print art methods to innovative digital print techniques.
