Getting To and From Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

Time: 26 minutes, to and from downtown Vancouver
Cost: $3.75 ($2.50 on Sundays and Holidays) to the airport, $8.75 ($7.50 on Sundays and holidays) to downtown Vancouver
The Canada Line SkyTrain carries passengers from Vancouver International Airport to downtown in 26 minutes and to downtown Richmond in 18 minutes. From there, connect to myriad bus routes to your final destination. After collecting your baggage in the arrivals area, follow the signs marked “Canada Line” to get to YVR-Airport station, conveniently located between the international and domestic terminals. Inbound fares from downtown Vancouver are only $3.75 (on Sundays and holidays, it’s $2.50), but it’s $8.75 (on Sundays and holidays, $7.50) to leave the airport due to a surcharge. The rate goes up or down if you’re connecting to buses in zones that are closer or further away.

Time: 15 minutes
Cost: ~$35 to and from downtown Vancouver
Taxi rates are metered, based on time and distance: $3.35 is the initial fare, then it’s $1.92 per kilometre. Bet on at least $30 to travel between downtown and Vancouver International Airport. If you’ve arrived on a domestic flight, go outside to the taxi stand on Arrivals Level 2. If you’ve landed at the international terminal, proceed outside through the arrivals greeting area to the taxi stand.

Time: 15 minutes 
Ride in a luxurious black sedan or stretch limousine with Aerocar Service. It’s $43 to get from Vancouver International Airport to downtown and $38 to get to downtown Richmond. Rates can vary depending on how far you want to go.

Get to points beyond Vancouver aboard a comfortable, long-distance bus that leaves directly from the airport. Pacific Coach Lines operates charters to Whistler and Victoria. Its counter is located in the International Terminal, Arrivals Level 2. YVR Whistler SkyLynx connects you from the Vancouver Airport to Squamish or Whistler. One-way fares range from $58 to $83. The bus departs three to six times daily depending on the season. YVR Victoria Link connects you from Vancouver International Airport to downtown Victoria with seven daily departures. One-way fares are subject to change at $38.95. Cross the border to downtown Seattle (about 2.5 hours away) with five daily departures on QuickShuttle. One-way fares are subject to change at $43. Purchase tickets at the QuickShuttle bus counter located curbside at the International Terminal, Arrivals Level 2.

Many airport-area hotels in Richmond—Vancouver’s neighbouring city where the airport is located—offer transportation service. To request a hotel shuttle bus, use the direct-dial phones on Arrivals Level 2 of both the domestic and international terminals. Pick-up and drop-off areas are located at the green canopy outside the international terminal’s Arrivals Level 2, and outside the domestic terminal’s Arrivals Level 1.
