Hot Fishing

Maligne Lake is Jasper’s best-known fishing spot, famous for world-class scenery and big rainbow trout. Lesser-known places for good fishing:
• At Talbot Lake (roadside, Hwy 16 east) the water is so clear you can see the pike take your fly.
• Walk 20 min from the Whirpool Fire Rd off Hwy 93A to Moab Lake where small but feisty rainbow trout are waiting for your fly.
Beaver Lake is an easy 30 min walk from the trailhead 27 km (16 mi) along Maligne Lake Rd. Ringed by Queen Elizabeth Range peaks, colourful brook trout in the clear lake respond to flies, and small spoons in early evenings.
