A majority of Canadians want to impose a travel fee on visiting Americans if their proposed tax goes through. Sixty-four per cent of respondents in a Canadian online poll believe that if the American proposal to charge Canadian air and sea travelers the $5.50 fee becomes the law, then Canadians should do the same to U.S. visitors.
Air travel marked its safest year on record last year, with one accident for every 1.6 million flights made in Western-built jets compared with one per 1.4 million in 2009, according to industry association IATA.
