According to the Guinness Book of World Records, (2009) the world’s most expensive ice-cream sundae is served at New York City’s Serendipity 3 restaurant. This decadent dessert was first offered on November 7, 2007, and costs a total of $25,000. It is made in partnership with luxury jeweller Euphoria of New York. The sundae consists of 28 cocoas, 14 of which are the world’s most expensive, and is decorated with 0.17 oz of edible 23-carat gold and served in a goblet lined with edible gold. At the base is an 18-carat gold bracelet with 1 carat of white diamonds. Shaved on the top of the sundae is the Madeline Truffle, the world’s most expensive, at $2,600 a pound. The dessert is enjoyed with a gold and diamond spoon which the customer can take home. If you’d like to order this special treat, you must give the restaurant a minimum of 48 hours notice. All proceeds from the order will go to charity.
