John Cleese tickles Victoria’s funnybone

Monty Python alumnus John Cleese brings his wry wit to the McPherson Playhouse stage for a series of shows in October. Embarking “on the first, and possibly last,” cross-Canadian tour of his incomparable career, Cleese promises to entertain audiences with Last Time To See Me Before I Die. After regaling fans with stories and exclusive clips from his 40-year career,  Cleese will participate in an extended question-and-answer period with his audience. “Canadian comedy fans simply cannot afford to miss this once-in-lifetime (John’s specifically) chance to get up close and personal with a true living legend before he, you know, dies.”

Mammoth-size fun

The Royal BC Museum’s woolly mammoth comes to life this September with the opening of Titans of the Ice Age at IMAX Victoria. Transporting viewers to the beautiful, otherworldly frozen landscapes of North America, Europe and Asia 10,000 years before modern civilization, peer through the IMAX lens to an ancient world of ice, the dawn of our species and a time when man shared the tundra with majestic woolly beasts.

For frozen landscapes of another kind, the film Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure continues alongside the BC Museum’s visiting exhibition Race to the End of the Earth to Oct. 14.
