Hot Dining: Asian Inclinations

Antipasto and yaki kamo (roasted duck breast) at Hapa Izakaya. Photo by KK Law

Latest to join the parade of izakaya rooms is a Yaletown entry for popular Hapa Izakaya (pictured)—also on Robson and in Kits—which specializes in quickly prepared small plates, using the freshest ingredients. Go for the ebi mayo (spicy tempura prawns) but stay for the saba (seared mackerel sashimi)—and the buzz. Savour more izakaya styles at Toratatsu Japanese Tapas Bistro, Zakkushi Charcoal Grill Diner and Guu.—Tim Pawsey

Kingyo Izakaya on Denman is another restaurant I would definitely recommend!
