Holiday Travel with Kids

To kick off the Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite family travel tips from the blogosphere. No fancy graphics or pie charts, just good, old-fashioned dos and dont’s from real-life parents.

  • Hindsight is 20-20, but one mom’s parenting fails is another mom’s future smooth sailing: check out this what-I-wish-I’d known advice about travelling with toddler from Parenting.com.
  • Debbie Drubrow at DeliciousBaby.com shares a ton of tips for flying with kids and babies. Some highlights: carry baby in a metal-free sling through security and be stingy with the toys so kids don’t blow through them in 10 minutes, plus about 1,000 additional tips, like how to breastfeed on a plane.
  • Road trip with the wee one in your near future? Whattoexpect.com, by the author of pregnancy bible What to Expect When You’re Expecting, gives us 8 ways to keep baby happy en route.
  • Family travel blogger and Condé Nast Traveller columnist Wendy Perrin shares extactly 26 of her best kid-travel tips, in alphabetical order from A (Apartment Rental) to Z (ZBars).
  • The most important thing to take with you on a family trip? A sense of humour. Daily Show regular Samantha Bee shows us how it’s done in her tale of enduring the wrath of baby-phobic seatmates while flying with her infant.
