Perks & Quirks: Hôtel Le Germain Montréal

By Kat Tancock

For a hotel visit that’s truly special, it’s the little things that count. And Hôtel Le Germain in downtown Montreal has made a business out of the little things, like spacious walk-in showers, a complimentary and deliciously carb-rich continental breakfast that puts others to shame—think warm pain doré au chocolat (chocolate French toast), quality breads and bagels and chocolate or plain croissants—and iPod docks on clock radios so you can listen to your own tunes as you work or play.

But perhaps the coolest touch—and the most important—is the effort the boutique hotel put into bedding. (After all, you spend most of your time in a hotel in bed, right?) The team worked with Quebec fashion designer Marie Saint Pierre to create a custom line made with both comfort and style as the goal. Linens are simple in clean white, cosy throws are made of Australian jersey wool, and cushions on beds and armchairs come in fuchsia, blue and green to coordinate with the overall decor.
