ABOUT THIS HOTEL
Once a quaint fishing lodge on a secluded island, Sonora Resort has evolved into one of the country’s most luxurious hotels, offering all-inclusive packages from May to October. Its location on on Sonora Island—part of the Discovery Islands in British Columbia, home to orca whales, sea lions and bald eagles—allows the destination to create a unique experience that blends wilderness beauty with the grace and opulence of a Relais & Chateaux hotel.

FOOD
While staying at Sonora Resort, enjoy the culinary creations of Terry Pichor (a competitor in 2013’s Gold Medal Plates Canada’s Culinary Championship). The chef applies the techniques of continental cuisine to local ingredients—Lois Lake trout, Pemberton beef, Sunshine Coast sturgeon—for a quintessentially British Columbian flavour. Guests can order à la carte or experience a Pichor’s carefully orchestrated tasting menus.

AMENITIES
Sonora Resort has a fully equipped spa, including hot and cold outdoor mineral pools that overlook the Pacific Ocean, a state of the art theatre, a games room, gym facilities, and a beautiful glassed-in plant conservatory. If sports are more your thing, you can hit the tennis courts, hop on a short boat ride to Storey Creek Golf Course, or practice your skills in a game of simulated golf right at the hotel.

Sonora Resort also focuses on outdoor activities that bring you closer to the wilderness then ever before. Guests are invited to partake in several types of eco-outings such as fly fishing, deep ocean fishing, guided boat rides, kayak tours and grizzly bear-watching. Helicopter tours are also available, which will take you atop a glacier where you can enjoy a private picnic prepared by chef Terry Pichor.
