You’re on vacation in Quebec and you’ve caught the eye of the cutie across the bar—and now he’s coming over to talk. Can you maintain a witty flirtation in a foreign tongue? With the fun TripLingo Romance Edition app it’s at least worth a try.
Based on the popular TripLingo app—which converts phrases to formal, casual, slang and “crazy” translations in one of 10 target languages—the Romance Edition translates common compliments and flirtatious remarks. Audio is provided for each phrase.
A friend from Quebec notes that the French phrases are, however, very continental. Of the translation T’es canon for “You are gorgeous” in the screenshot above, for example, she says, “You would never hear a Quebecois say that without laughing.”
Then again, that could work to your advantage.
One thing the app doesn’t have is a pick-up fail filter—TripLingo takes no responsibility for drinks thrown in your face.
Free at iTunes app store; available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
