Quebec City scooped the Big Apple as the destination for North America’s first TRYP by Wyndham hotel on December 1, joining hot spots like Paris, Montevideo, Lisbon, Buenos Aires and Berlin.
In the city’s Saint Roch neighbourhood just outside the Vieux Quebec walls, TRYP Quebec Hotel Pur opened last week, debuting its unique mix of European and Japanese modernist design, after a multimillion dollar renovation of the existing Hotel Pur.
The 242-room hotel has complimentary Wi-Fi, Italian coffee in the lobby and 24-hour access to gym, sauna, indoor heated pool and business centre. The modern-contemporary rooms are done in a minimalist palette of white, grey and red, with amenities such as iPod-compatible alarm clocks, large flat-screen TVs and plenty of workspace. For those travelling with the kids, TRYP offers family rooms with bunk beds.
There are currently 14 TRYP by Wyndham hotels in Europe and South America. The second hotel to open on the continent will be the TRYP New York City Times Square South in 2012.
