Are you travelling to an exotic destination for a wedding this year? If you are, you’re not alone. A study from TheKnot.com, one of the top wedding Web sites in the world, reveals that 24 per cent of all 2012 weddings are destination weddings, a 4 per cent increase from 2009.
The study, which surveyed U.S. brides, found that only 30 per cent of the destination weddings took place outside the country—a 10 per cent decrease from international “I dos” in 2009. Most popular international destinations? Mexico, the Caribbean and Hawaii, which accounted for 83 per cent of all destination weddings.
And despite the costs involved in travelling for the wedding, couples overwhelmingly (86 per cent) still took a honeymoon.
