Hot Dining: Pop-up Eats at The Common

Pop-up shopping venues have become a popular attraction, and the concept is also being applied to restaurants.

The Common restaurant and lounge (9910-109 St., 780-452-7333) is hosting “Occupy Common 2,” a fun, innovative dining event on Tuesday Oct 16, 2012, with two seatings at 6 pm and 9 pm. This unique pop-up restaurant experience will feature a five-course meal, with each course prepared by a different chef from five favourite local restaurants. The cost is only $40 per person — which we think is a great deal for the quantity and quality of food you will get.

The five courses will be specially created for this event by Andrew Cowan of Hundred Bar & Kitchen, Edgar Guiterrez of Tres Carnales Taqueria, Nathan Suarette of Jack’s Grill, Stu Chell of Ambers Brewing Company, and Jesse Morrison of The Common. These chefs will take over and “occupy” Chef Morrison’s kitchen at The Common and work together to prepare and cook each course. Though the menu hasn’t been finalized yet, you can expect a great variety of ingredients, textures, and flavours in the different courses you’ll be eating that night!

We like the fun, laid-back vibe of The Common and always enjoy delicious meals there; we are excited about this event which will showcase the fabulous food that can be found at Edmonton’s impressive local dining hotspots.
