The Edmonton Ice Castle

The first of its kind in Canada, an acre-sized ice castle will be open to explore in Hawrelak Park on December 30! Constructed by hand with only icicles and frozen water, this super cool attraction is reminiscent of natural formations and Elsa’s castle in your kids’ favourite movie, Disney’s Frozen.

Not only is it a stunning sight to behold, but you can also crawl through tunnels, step under icy arches, and marvel at the castle’s intricate structure. The best time to enjoy the ice castle is in the late afternoon when you’ll catch the icicles sparkling in the sunlight until the internal lights turn on and make it glow in the dark. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear a pair of warm boots! The ground is made of crushed snow and ice, and will definitely chill improperly protected feet.

This frozen landmark will be open until the end of March — depending on the weather, of course. Learn more and buy your tickets on the website. —Matthew Stepanic
