Foodies can indulge in a celebration of THE favourite ingredient in Italian cooking, the 22nd Annual Garlic Festival takes place from April 8 – May 11, 2013.
Visit any Sorrentino’s or Bistecca location to enjoy the feature menu, where garlic makes an appearance in every dish from small plates to entrees, and even dessert! The salted caramel garlic popcorn and the vanilla bean garlic gelato will tickle your taste buds with their addicting combinations of salty and sweet flavours. Thirsty? Pair your food with a glass of garlic-flavoured Chardonnay, an exclusive garlic beer brewed by Hog’s Head Brewing Co. in St. Albert, Alberta, or a Caesar spiced up with — you guessed it — garlic. If you feel there still isn’t enough garlic between all of your courses (if you need to ward of vampires, or if you’re on a really awkward first date) you can ask to add an extra dash (or two, or three) of freshly chopped garlic to any dish!
You can enjoy the food at the festival and support a great cause: the Sorrentino’s Compassion House supports women from Northern Alberta with breast cancer from their diagnosis, through treatment, and recovery. On Wednesday, May 8, 5% of the total food sales from all six Sorrentino and Bistecca locations will be donated to this project, and the The “Garlic Stomp” main event is a formal dinner and fundraiser on Saturday, April 20 at the Shaw Conference Centre. Popular entertainer Danny Hooper will emcee the evening of dinner and dance, and dishes from the feature Garlic Festival menu will be served family-style — non-garlic options will be available for those with allergies or dietary restrictions. Tickets to Garlic Stomp are $300 each and can be ordered by calling 780-474-6466 or emailing stella [at] sorrentinos.com
