More than just an awards show, the Canadian Folk Music Awards is a weekend full of fantastic live music events, such as artist showcases, free workshops, and live radio broadcasts. The best artists in Canadian folk music will descend on Edmonton for unforgettable performances and to collect their coveted prizes at the gala event on November 8. CFMA Showcase | November 6 | 7 pm
This stunning showcase will feature 2015 CFMA nominees Michael Jerome Browne, Sarah MacDougall, Jon Brooks, Miranda Currie, Rebecca Lappa, and Benjamin Dakota Rogers.

Workshop: The Business of Folk | November 7 | 10 am
At this free and informative panel, learn all of the basics of the business and industry behind those performing and producing folk music.

Workshop Series | November 7 | 12 pm
Including various CFMA nominees, including Laura Vinson and Lizzy Hoyt, you’ll learn about topics, such as writing for a cause and choosing and blending instruments as a songwriter at this free workshop series.

CFMA Showcase | November 7 | 7 pm
At this evening of folk music, you’ll hear 2015 CFMA nominees Jory Nash, The Young Novelists, Jocelyne Baribeau, Dana Sipos, Mira Meikle, and The Jerry Cans.

Attend a live broadcast of CFMA nominees including Oh Susanna, Lizzy Hoyt, Peter Katz, and Catherine MacLellan, in a relaxing pub atmosphere.

Workshop: A Diversity of Strings | November 8 | 1 pm
Musical director and accordionist Jason Kodie will teach a free session on the diversity of string instruments.

Dana Wylie hosts this informal concert of Classic Canadian songs that make up our rich musical history.

CFMA Gala & Reception | November 8 | 7 pm
Hosted in English and French by award-winning musicians Connie Kaldor and Benoit Borque, the greatest Canadian folk musicians in Canada will be celebrated with awards in 20 categories. The evening will feature performances by Pharis and Jason Romero, Mélisande [Électrotrad], Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra, Trent Severn, Jeffrey Straker, and John Wort Hannam.
