You Are Here: Willow Park Village

Reminiscent of a European market square, Willow Park is an open-air complex in the city’s deep south, boasting more than 65 shops, restaurants and services.

Joseph Ribkoff International, a Canadian design house hailing from Quebec, is the mainstay of First Class Fashions, a ladies’ boutique. Across the complex, Marylin E is known for its mature, fashion forward designs, while next door plus-size shoppers flock to Fashion Addition, which carries labels such as Anne Klein and Jones New York. For designer undergarments head to Knickers ‘N Lace, which sells nightgowns, lingerie and bras—budget at least an hour for a proper fitting.GREEK FEAST
The infectious energy of a Greek taverna is in abundance at Broken Plate, one of Calgary’s top Mediterranean eateries. The spinach and feta-stuffed chicken breast is highly recommended, as well as their signature Alexander Swords: marinated souvlaki with rice pilaf, roasted potatoes and vegetables. Every Friday and Saturday evenings the staff partake in traditional Greek plate breaking and dance the Zebekika, a spectacle greatly enhanced by a few rounds of ouzo.WESTERN WEAR
Lammle’s is a one-stop-shop for all things western: boots, hats, neckties, belt buckles and Wrangler jeans. If you’re a western wear beginner, pick up a collared shirt and CD from their collection; Sugarland and Tim McGraw are good introductions to country music, as well as local boy Paul Brandt. Lammle’s is the official western retailer for the Calgary Stampede, and has 23 locations across the province.GOURMET TASTES
Seafood fanatics can find everything they need for an at-home feast at North Sea Fish Market, including fresh salmon, halibut, shrimp and calamari (to name a few). There are also more local treats such as Valbella bison sausage and Brassica Mustard. For the liquid portion of your meal, head next door to Willow Park Wine & Spirits, a vast boutique with more than 7,000 products, regular tastings and a seven-week wine appreciation course.

Expectant moms can find designer, form-flattering fashions at Ella Bella Maternity Boutique, from labels such as Michael Kors, Ripe and Jules & Jim. The boutique also sells a selection of infant wear—we like the Umi shoes and Baby Björn. Children’s wear is the specialty at Stephanie’s Kids, which retails designer clothing for newborns all the way to age 16. Their labels include Burberry, Quicksilver, DKNY, Diesel and 3 Pommes.SWEET TREATS
Olivier’s Candies—the oldest confectionery company in Calgary—sells chocolates, hard candy, peanut brittle, toffee and bars, including O Trois, an organic chocolate bar fortified with Omega 3. Inside, you’ll also find Les Truffes au Chocolat, a line of 37 handcrafted truffles made by Swiss-trained chocolatier Ralph Buchmuller; some of his more unusual truffle flavours include chai tea, apple cider and maple whiskey.

Willow Park Village is located at 10816 Macleod Trail South, beside Southcentre and across from the Anderson C-Train station.—Sally MacKinnon
