Thursday, September 20 Be sure to check out the Calgary Home + Design Show at the BMO Centre, running until Sunday, September 23. The weekend event will feature inspirational design solutions and helpful home advice. The show will host over 350 exhibitors and a variety of industry experts including Sarah Daniels and Philip DuMoulin, hosts of HGTV’s Urban Suburban; Bruce Hopkins, host of Remodel IT TV; food blogger extraordinaire, Dan Clapson. Thursday through Saturday, Theatre Junction GRAND presents 13 Most Beautiful Songs for Andy Warhol’s Screen Test. This musical art show features the late Andy Warhol’s lesser-known short films accompanied by live music composed by Dean Wareham and Britta Philips of Luna, Galaxy 500 and Jen & The Holograms. The showcase runs until Saturday. Tickets start at $28, call Theatre Junction GRAND, 403-205-2922.

Saturday, September 22 For a night of suspense, Vertigo Mystery Theatre presents Double Indemnity. This production is a new stage adaptation of James M. Cain’s classic film noir novel. The drama involves a salesman and a money-hungry housewife who hatch a plan to murder the woman’s husband for a tempting double-indemnity payout from his policy. Sunday, September 23 Colin Mochrie, internationally known improv comic and star of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? performs in the Fifth Annual Calgary Improv Festival. The festival runs through the weekend and features a variety of improvised comedy, games, songs and even entirely improvised plays performed every night of the festival. On Sunday, be sure to check out the first day of the Calgary International Flamenco Festival. The festival is a week-long celebration of flamenco music, dance and other performances.
