Numerous competitive cycling events are held in Calgary each summer. This year, three of the main competition groups—the Niklas Group Tour de Bowness, Crankmaster’s ITT and dB Performance Jason Lapierre Memorial—have joined forces for a “superweek” of races (including kids’ races).

On Saturday, the dB Performance Jason Lapierre Memorial’s Downtown Calgary Criterium takes place in the heart of downtown between Sixth Street and Fourth Street SW along Second Avenue and Third Avenue SW. Only 820 metres in length, this flat course permits cyclists to reach speeds of 45 km/h—a must-see for cycling fans. Children’s races begin at 4:30 pm, adult races start at 5 pm.

Registration for the event is closed, but admission for spectators is free. Parking available throughout the downtown area. Visit Alberta Cycling Superweek for more information.
