Spas for everyone… and their dog

Like ripples on a tranquil pond, the city’s spa scene and its associated wellness services are growing rapidly. The profusion of facilities means there’s a spa treatment for each member of the family.

Dad • Renovations: The Spa for Men
As any red-blooded male who’s ever hoisted a nail gun will attest, home renovations are addictive. So, too, are personal fixer uppers. With its televised sports and dudes-only setting, Renovations may be the city’s manliest salon spa in which to secure a pedicure, manicure or massage. You can also fight the ravages of the razor with a hydrating, pore-cleansing facial. Price: $65 – $120

Mom • Inner Balance Spa
You’re a spa vet. Pedicures and massages are a way of life, but you crave to incorporate wellness deeper into your lifestyle. Inner Balance Spa offers the shoot-the-works health revitalization package you’re looking for. This approximate six-week program includes infrared sauna sessions, full-body circulatory massages and naturopathic consultations. Price: $1,000

Mom and Dad • Riverside Spa
Nothing says togetherness more tenderly than a relaxing and romantic four-hour couples spa session. Riverside Spa’s couple’s retreat opens with a 60-minute massage followed by an organic facial treatment and pedicure. Following this passively delicious marriage counselling session, enjoy lunch for two and a walk along the Bow River. Price: $650 (4 hrs)

The mom to be • Leela Eco Spa & Studio
Bringing a life into the world is its own reward, but it takes a physical and mental toll on a new or expecting mom. Sooth the stresses of pregnancy and recovery with pre- and postnatal massage treatments at Leela Eco Spa. Price: $95 (60 min), $130 (90 min)

The extended family • Sante Spa
You love your friends and you love the spa. So go ahead and ask your friends to the spa already. Sante Spa offers custom group sessions for up to six people. Consider starting with a pedicure and moving on to either a 60-minute relaxation massage or a facial. Between treatments, relax and socialize by the lounge’s cozy fireplace with complementary refreshments. Price: starting at $215 per person

The Kids • The Spa Ritual
Among its many group spa therapy sessions, The Spa Ritual caters to teens and tweens with its Thai princess party. Manicure or pedicure treatment sessions cater to cliques of four to eight girls aged 16 and under. Held in a secluded niche, these youthful getaways can be boisterous, but regal decorum rules. Befitting the young royal, chocolate-dipped strawberries and fruit smoothies are served. Price: $110 per person (60 min)

The dog • Pawsitively Pooched
Owned and operated by certified reiki master and canine water therapist Carrie Procinsky, Pawsitively Pooched offers an array of pet services from grooming and daycare to obedience classes, but also therapeutic and recreational assisted swimming for pups. A good swim aids recovery in dogs with muscle or joint issues or that have had surgery. Healthy dogs, not surprisingly, also speak highly (Arf! Arf!) of the service. Price: $54 (30 min)
