Located on busy 17 Ave SW, FARM Restaurant celebrates local food in a cozy, rural-inspired setting.
The interior, with its muted floral wallpaper, lace curtains and vintage coffee cups evokes the feel of a prairie farm kitchen. A large communal “harvest table” and bar seating wrapped around the open-kitchen keep the cozy room feeling lively. A large chalkboard at the back of the restaurant lists out the daily specials and for those seated at the open kitchen, Chef Pete Goldberg and his brigade happily engage with customers and make recommendations.
The menu is influenced by its attached business, Janice Beaton Fine Cheese (Beaton also owns FARM), and a rotating selection of artisanal cheeses and charcuterie is always available. The restaurant’s famous mac and cheese includes a mixture of gruyere and white cheddar with toasted breadcrumbs and a touch of cayenne. Smoked ham hock can be added as well.
Where recommends trying the delicious southern barbecue chicken, sourced from Lethbridge’s Pura Vida farm. The smoky, crispy chicken is served with baked maple black beans, a buttermilk slaw and sautéed greens.
The lunch menu includes sandwiches, mouth-watering burgers (and a yummy veggie burger, too) and plentiful salads. Weekend brunch is usually bustling, and the brioche French toast with maple syrup and bacon is not to be missed.
