Looking for something to do in Ottawa this weekend? Our Ottawa weekend calendar outlines all your best bets!
Ottawa Weekend Calendar: Friday, Feb. 15
Youth aged 13 to 17 get the run of Jacques-Cartier Park’s Snowflake Kingdom after dark at Blizzard: A Flurry of Fun and Music! Bring your friends or make some new ones as you try out the snow slides, listen to a DJ battle, take part in a graffiti workshop, and dance the night away.
Walk through a tunnel made up of the over 1000 lanterns in Confederation Park’s Lantern Garden, made possible by Winterlude’s partnership with the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival of Jinju, South Korea. It’s a spectacular sight during the day, but will really take your breath away when you experience it at night.
Get ready for Canada’s largest cross-country skiing event, the 35th Annual Gatineau Loppet. Whether you want to participate in one of the more serious races, like the 51 KM Freestyle, have some free, silly fun in groups of eight in the “giant ski” races, or just browse the ski show, you can be sure that there will be something fun for everyone.
Ottawa Weekend Calendar: Saturday, Feb. 16
Love craft beer? You’ll love WinterBrewed, Ottawa’s newest craft beer festival, which is part of Winterlude. Even better, there’s no admission cost, so those who just want to browse are free to check out the fun along Sparks Street Mall. Adults can buy the official festival glass and tokens to try the beers, while the whole family enjoys food, hot chocolate, a snowman contest, and a sugar bush.
Celebrate the Chinese New Year in Ottawa’s vibrant Chinatown — along Somerset Street between Bay and Preston Streets. The community is putting on a New Year Lion Dance Parade, sure to be fun for the whole family.
The Montcalm Gallery opens its doors for a free, multisensory show with Pixel Passage: A High-Frequency Evening. As the Astrobeat DJs fill the air with electro-jazz, VJ Mawt Trood will project whimsical images onto the walls. Guests can peruse Benjamin Rodger’s exhibition Free Circulation as they take in the slam poetry of David Dufour and Marjolaine Beauchamp.

Do your kids love a good challenge? Why not let them try out the Winter Obstacle Course in Jacques-Cartier Park? Set up by the Canadian Forces, this military-grade course offers both fun and fitness for those with boundless energy.
Step out of the chill and into the Currency Museum for Frosty Fortunes, a free exhibit on how Canada’s chilly weather has shaped the art and design on Canadian currency. Plus enjoy hot chocolate and a warm cup of coffee!
